American subsidiary of a Korean multimedia company, COWON Systems,
Inc., announced today that it has changed its name to COWON America,
Inc. The name change reflects the company's commitment to uniting
with their Korean counterpart and expanding their brand beyond digital
audio players; COWON is focused on a broader multimedia category.
"We feel that the name COWON America, Inc. more accurately
conveys the various multimedia products we have planned for the
future," remarked Jae-ook Jeong, President of COWON America,
Inc. "We want to extend our brand image beyond the digital
audio category to a wider range of multimedia space. Also, by using
a part of our Korean parent company’s name, we will establish
a brand unity between the Asian and North American markets."
The company will still use the name JetAudio for their multimedia
software products. COWON America, Inc. currently has flash memory
and hard disk digital audio players (iAUDIO) and multimedia software
(JetAudio) in their product line. The company will release a hard
disk digital audio player (iAUDIO M5), a hard disk digital audio/video
player (iAUDIO X5) and a portable media player (COWON A2) by the
